“It’s been a good ride,” Alan stated as he reflected on his long-tenured and successful career at Carolina Cat.

The Asheville native started his career with Carolina Tractor on October 6, 1972 and hasn’t looked back since. Tweed graduated from Asheville-Buncombe Technical College after specializing in diesel mechanics and hydraulics. CTE was certainly on Alan’s radar after graduation – after a short stint with Magnavox, a job became available at Carolina Tractor and he quickly jumped at the opportunity.

“As soon as I found out I got the job, I quit my current job on a Friday and started on Monday,” Tweed recalls.

Over his tenure, Alan has held various positions in the organization. He was hired as a mechanic and started his career in the track shed. Alan then moved to the warehouse for 3-4 months before transitioning to working the parts counter in 1982. Ultimately, due to the unfortunate death of a colleague, Alan was offered the opportunity to become the product support sales representative for the Asheville branch. For some time, Alan served as the only PSSR for the territory.

“I thought I would be working the parts counter for all of my life. I was very grateful for the opportunity to move into the PSSR role.”

On a personal note, Alan is looking forward to retirement and the adventures that await him. He and Elizabeth, his wife of nearly 50 years, are already planning several trips and hope to travel more. Alan is the proud grandfather of an eight and thirteen-year-old and is looking forward to the ability to spend more time with them. When not spending time with family, Alan enjoys hunting and fishing, and is excited to spend more time dedicated to his passion of restoring old cars.

As this 48-year chapter of his life closes, Alan is leaving with a grateful heart. “I wouldn’t have been here so long if the Weisiger family wasn’t so good to work for. I appreciate everything CTE and the Weisiger family have done.”
